Big River Grille and Brewing Works, Nashville, Tn-- Comments from Reviewers 06/17/2005 -16th Ave Pilsner, Thick Brick Red Ale, Sweet Magnolia American Brown Ale: The 16th Ave Pilsner was very good, with a significant yeast taste that lasted throughout the taste, and into the wait, for the next sip. Well balanced, proper carbonation for the style, just an excellent example of a Pilsner. Thick Brick Red Ale, served at cellar temperatures, explodes with a complex malt taste. The hand pump generates a true Real Ale British experience for you. Perhaps, a little heavy on the specialty grains, but not enough to overpower the drink. Sweet Magnolia Brown Ale, will surprise you from the first sip, as it had a very nutty taste. Perhaps, so nutty, that I can't believe that the nut flavor was natural (surely it has to be some sort of syrup). The beer was dark for the style, however, if the end result of a beer is to give a pleasant feel to the consumer, than it accomplishes this, however it is they got the nutty flavor. I can't really make a determination on the food, as I only sampled some appetizers, but the atmosphere was pleasant, and you simply can't beat the location (2nd and Broadway). -Bottletree
